The Learning Paradox: We Are Automating Away Our Future Seniors
Juniors deliver in hours what used to take days, but where do they still learn to judge results? Why AI raises the floor and endangers the ceiling.
The same AI tool makes a strong engineer faster and a weak process worse. Why the expert in the loop decides whether AI output is an asset or a liability.

Two engineering teams introduce the same AI tools. A year later, one ships faster than ever with fewer defects. The other drowns in code and documents nobody fully understands. Same technology, opposite outcomes.
The difference is not the tool. It is what the tool amplifies. AI is an amplifier: where there is expertise, it multiplies expertise. Where there is unclear ownership, missing standards and nobody who checks, it multiplies exactly that, at machine speed.
Generating output has become cheap. A junior with an AI assistant produces more text, more code, more variants in a day than a department used to in a week. What has not become cheap is knowing whether the output is right. Duplicated logic, plausible-sounding errors and confident nonsense scale just as smoothly as good work; they are simply harder to spot at volume.
The companies that win with AI put their most experienced people at the narrow points: defining what good looks like, reviewing what the machine produced, and deciding what ships. That is the opposite of the popular fantasy of replacing seniors with prompts. The senior does not become redundant: his judgment becomes the bottleneck resource, and organising around it is the actual design task.

AI and automation
Three training courses changed nothing. One hour on his own projects turned a sceptical 30-year veteran into the fastest AI user in the room. How it works.

Most AI business cases are built on saved positions, and most disappoint. How to measure cycle times, error costs and freed capacity honestly instead.
